Redknapp on Campbell: If they want to jeer him, then fine

Harry Redknapp is hoping that Spurs fans won’t go overboard with their chants towards Sol Campbell.

The defender is expected to start for Arsenal at White Hart Lane this evening, nine years after walking out on Spurs to join their fierce rivals.

Redknapp told The Sun: “I’m sure he’ll get grief. It’s no good saying he won’t.

“It’s been a long-running saga but they’ve got the hump with him here and they’re not going to forgive him.

“I just hope they don’t do anything silly or shout anything silly. Sure if they want to jeer him, then fine.”

He added: “I could never see him going back to Arsenal in a million years.

“When I took him to Portsmouth, he wanted out of Arsenal and they wanted him out, too.

“He walked away from a fortune. His deal at Arsenal was incredible and it lost him £3million a year playing for Portsmouth.

“If he’d stayed at Notts County, it would have been the end of him. But, suddenly, he is involved in a team that was playing Champions League and trying to win the title.”
