Redknapp pleased with Pavlyuchenko form

Harry Redknapp feels Roman Pavlyuchenko is back to his best, after the Russian bagged his second brace in a matter of days to help Spurs in the quarter finals of the FA Cup.

Pavlyuchenko had been rewarded for his strikes against Wigan with a start against Bolton in teh fifth round replay and vindicated that decision by grabbing another couple of goals.

Redknapp has often been critical of the strikers attitude in training, but blocked a move away from the club that Pavlyuchenko had desired.

But having been reintroduced into the first team, Pavlyuchenko has impressed and Redknapp feels he may have turned a corner.

“He took his goals well, he is a quality finisher and he has proven that again tonight,” Redknapp said after the match.

“Last week he was excellent in training, he was the best player in everything we did, he looked like he wanted to play.

“Nobody wants to see him do well more than me; it makes my job a lot easier.

“He is a very nice lad, but he is laid back and some days he needs a rocket. He’s playing like he’s had a rocket.

“He’s in the team now, his confidence should be high and it is up to him to play well. He is bang in form and I wouldn’t see myself leaving him out of the team at the weekend.”

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. At bleeding last – as much as I got time for Harry, I was begining to have reservations about the Geezer, Pav has gotta finish off the Season now & up front with Defoe.

Crouch just don’t offer us much IMO, NO Goal threat; NOT very good at holding up the ball; TO weak in the air & he his footwork even confuses him as well as me!

I think Crouch would be better as an impact Sub, if we needed summit different in a game.

And I’m not on the band wagon either, as along with Arshavin, when there was talk of bringing the two of them to the lane I was excited after witnessing them in the Euro’s, Arshavin has proved himself with the Arse, now it’s Super Pav time, lets get behind both him & the team & get into that TOP4

  2. well done pav,you made harry clap hands for you.harry says that he will be happy if you score 10 goals till the end of the season, but i think if you continue to play like this you are going to make it very shortly till the games left for the hole season.i hope that harry continue to play european football style as he is doing means very stong contender for the fort place now.

  3. Finally!! .. What took Harry so long to recognize that he should be a regular in the team? All Pav needed was to play some games and I don’t believe he was a slack in training because he always expressed his desire to play some games or leave immediately so I’m sure he always gave his all in training .. I think the supporters got to Harry

  4. It seems for me a long time ago, that I was happy with Harrys team selections, but the last 2 games, he has selected well and substituted well, lets hope Harry keeps this up. MOM for me is our super pav, one chance, one goal, just hope he stays with us, at least to the end of the season,as he is our final link to help us finish 4th.

  5. Super Pav, Super Pavluchenko. At last arry sees the ways of his BIG errors. No more 3m Peter Please. Only downside that I could see in the game against ” lack luster Bolton” was Pallacious, is it me or is he slowly turning into Zakora. He miss placed nearly every pass. I hope it was the flu or something.
