Redknapp praises midfield pairing

Harry Redknapp has lavished praise on his central midfield duo after Tom Huddlestone and Luka Modric’s performances against Chelsea and Arsenal.

Redknapp pointed out that they were outnumbered in both games as Arsenal and Chelsea lined up in a 4-5-1 formation, giving them both a three man central midfield.

Yet the pair produced fine performances in both games as Spurs recorded back-to-back wins over their closest rivals.

Redknapp told the Spurs official website; “Modric could play in any team in the world in my opinion, he’s a fanastic footballer, top, top class.

“He’s a little guy and people say he can’t play in central midfield, but he’s played there in a two-man central midfield against teams that play with three men in there and he’s been absolutely top drawer.

“Tom Huddlestone was superb in there again as well. We knew we’d be outnumbered again against Chelsea, but Modric, Huddlestone and the two wide men tucking in all did their jobs.

“Before the game I thought Chelsea would get an awful lot of the ball with the likes of Deco and Lampard in there, but we got after them. It was a great performance.”
