Redknapp reveals what his sources at Tottenham told him about Troy Parrott

Jamie Redknapp has urged Jose Mourinho to hand Troy Parrott an opportunity in the absence of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son due to their respective injury probems.

Despite Tottenham’s lack of options up front at present, Mourinho has resisted the temptation to use Parrott and has insisted that the youngster isn’t ready yet for first-team action (The Independent).

The 18-year-old once again failed to even make the bench for the London derby against Chelsea on Saturday which ended in a 2-1 defeat for the Lilywhites.

Mourinho bemoaned the lack of attacking options after the game and insisted there was not much his side could have done differently in the game (Football.London).

However, Redknapp feels it is hight time the Spurs boss throws Parrott into the mix. The former Tottenham midfielder also revealed that his sources at the club felt that the youngster had all the attributes to reach the very top.

In his column for the Daily Mail, Redknapp wrote: “With Harry Kane and Son Heung-min sidelined, Parrott’s is a name on the lips of Spurs supporters.

“Mourinho has claimed Parrott is ‘not ready’ but my sources at Tottenham say he is the real deal, with all the attributes to go to the very top.

“He has power, pace and is not the type to be fazed by a challenge. He’s been training with the first team, learning from the master Kane and has been capped by Ireland.

“I have every faith that Parrott is more than capable of doing a job for Mourinho and I hope he gets an opportunity to prove that, even if it’s off the substitutes’ bench.”

We as fans need to patient and trust Jose’s judgement on Parrott as we don’t get to watch him train regularly. If the teenager wasn’t convinced he had a pathway to the first team under Jose, then I doubt he would have put pen to paper on a new deal a few weeks ago.
