Redknapp singles out four players for poor moments against Norwich – Including Ndombele

Tottenham Hotspur showed their two sides yesterday against Norwich City, first-half Spurs and second-half Spurs.

The Lilywhites failed to get going yet again in the first 45 against the Canaries, allowing the home side to grab the opening goal.

Norwich should have been 2-0 up heading into the break, but VAR rather generously saved Tottenham from the deserved embarrassment.

Spurs were much improved in the second half with some tactical changes, with Mourinho taking off both Juan Foyth and Jan Vertonghen to bring on Davinson Sanchez and Lucas Moura.

Foyth had been at fault for giving away the ball in the build-up to the first goal, while Toby Alderweireld stood off the attacker and let him shoot.

Spurs eventually came back from behind twice to secure a 2-2 draw, but wasted the chance to break into the top four with a win.

Jamies Redknapp singled out a Spurs quartet for mistakes they made in the match, going in particularly hard on young Foyth.

He said (Sky Sports Main Event – 28/12/19 – 5:30 pm): “I think [Paulo] Gazzaniga has to do better as well.

“I think [Toby] Alderweireld has to close the ball quicker. [Juan] Foyth, every time I watch him, he makes a mistake that costs Spurs a goal. He’s got to learn the basics, keep it simple.

“It’s a poor mistake, [Tanguy] Ndombele as well, it’s a catalogue of mistakes.”
