Harry Redknapp has spoken of his pleasure of Gareth Bale’s fine form, stating it’s a shame he’s already tied down to play for Wales, as he feels he’s more than good enough to play for England.

Bale produced another top class performance to help sink Blackburn on Saturday, currently filling in on the left side of midfield to help Spurs’ injury crisis.

And Redknapp feels England may rue his decision to play for Wales, just like they did with Ryan Giggs.

Redknapp said, “For sure, it’s a shame he’s not English, but I’m sure Wales are pleased to have him. He’s over six foot and can dribble, run with it, shoot, cross. He’s got the lot and will have a terrific future, I’m sure.

“Gareth is such an outstanding player but people forget that he is just a boy and was learning the game when I came here.

“When I came here, I felt he was never taught the game and needed to learn. He had natural ability, but so much of his game needed working on.

“He’s matured, progressed and got stronger and looks a fantastic player whether he plays left-back or wide left, he’s shown he can play both. If you look at him against Blackburn, there wouldn’t be a better left-sided player in the country.”

Bale was given his chance to make a mark on the first-team after Benoit Assou-Ekotto picked up an injury, with the Cameroonian having made the left-back position his own previously.

Bale said, “The gaffer has given me a chance and I want to keep playing well and keep doing well for the team.

“We’re all confident here, obviously it will be tough to finish in the top four, but we’ll be doing our best.”

  1. Bale has been improving all along. He is now a great asset to his club and has certainly a bright future as footballer.

  3. At the begining of the season i was trumpeting Gareth Bale Huddlestone and Lennon .When most of our fans where saying they where not good enough Bale couldnt tackle Lennon had noe end product Huddlestone was to slow .I said this Ferguson sent ryann Giggs to see Bale and asked him to go to MAN UTD. Because the canny Scot seen Bale has the Replacement for Giggs and thankfully he chose Spurs ,This is why i new he could play either full back or Midfield .Lennon i said when fans where getting fed up with is crosses when is knee operations had healed fully he would deliver better crosses and score more he has .And Huddlestone i said he would be a great maker of goals and with a bit more experience like Rooney his now score a few more goals . All three of these players have had injurys and operations that take a good few years to heal the scar tissue and this is now happened, the sad thing is poor Lennon has suffered like all good players a set back from all the bad tackles he has been subjected to from bad dirty defending from a young age lets hope he gets back soon and we have all three exciting players on the same team mouthwatering .

  4. Another legend in the making, just needs to cut across towards goal to try and score like modders does, absolutely brilliant taking on players and crossing the ball.

  5. I agree Davspur I like you am relieved that we weren’t hasty in our options with these three players. Had we been impatient as we have been before then we could’ve lost three very exciting prospects and also developed a reputation of being a selling club which would harm our ambitions. I have always thought we were two maybe three players short of where we want to be (CL) but not so now these three are realising their potential plus with what we already have in our squad its actually very pleasing but we must learn to be more disciplined against the bigger teams and cut out the silly lapses against the others. Not crying over spilled milk but the points dropped this season would have us sitting very comfortably in third fighting for second maybe even first. Our detractors may think we are punching above our weight but facts are we are more than capable of crashing the top four just wished we could’ve done it on the sneaky come in under the radar instead of talking it up so much. You never see or hear sir Alex Ferguson talking united up til maybe last couple months because he’s a wily old fox he knows how to get into the hen house even when it seems to be well guarded and its not where you start its where you finish. We need to learn this. Hopefully the injuries will come good there is still the FA cup and fourth to play for couple of tweeks in the summer transfer window the future is looking up really thought we had blown it by getting rid of Jol but it doesn’t look so.

  6. At the moment because of key injuries we have a tight unit of squad players to choose from and perhaps in a strange way we are benefiting from this. A settled starting 11 is always important and consisency of results comes with that. Players are being asked to play out of position (Bale) and all mucking in giving us unity. I am trying not to think of two x Wolves defeats, losing to Stoke, drawing at home to Hull, throwing away a gilt edged 3 points at Everton. Perhaps we should be long way ahead of our rivals and looking forward to certain top 4 finish. All things considering it is fortunate other clubs around us have been just as decent in shipping away silly points.
