Redknapp: Spurs pair need to increase their effort

Harry Redknapp has revealed that David Bentley and Roman Pavlyuchenko were not named in the Tottenham squad for the defeat to Wolves because of a lack of workrate.

“I’ve no need to bring anyone in – I’m happy with the squad,” said Redknapp.

“If somebody goes, then maybe we might find somebody we think can make a difference.

“I’m happy with the squad and we’ll get into Europe this year for sure.

“Roman Pavlyuchenko wasn’t on the bench today, nor was David Bentley. They’re fit. I left them off the bench.

“There was no incident, Bentley just played in a practice match and didn’t deserve to be on the bench today – nor did Pavlyuchenko.

“Other kids have worked hard all week to get in the team, put in 110 per cent. I have to send a message out to them as well sometimes.

“You ask players to come and work hard to get in the squad. It’s up to them to work hard to get on the bench and it’s up to them to work even harder to get in the team.”
