Redknapp sweats on “irreplaceable” Modric scans

Harry Redknapp has his fingers crossed that Luka Modric’s injury is not serious, having branded the Croatian as irreplaceable.

Modric was targetted for a series of robust challenges in Spurs 1-1 draw with West Brom and has been sent away for a scan on his leg.

The final blow from Gonzalo Jara was in the same spot where Modric broke his leg last year, meaning the goalscorer left the ground on crutches.

Regardless of the scan, Modric will miss Tuesday’s clash with Werder Bremen, which will be a major blow for one of the most important members of our team.

Redknapp said; “We’ve got strength in depth, but you always have one or two players who make the difference to you.

“Modric makes the difference. In my opinion, he could play in any team, anywhere in the world.

“He’s a top, top player. He is fantastic. When you lose him, you can’t replace him. You’ve got other people who are good players, great players, but he’s a special player.

“So it will be a massive loss for us if he is going to be out for a while.”
