Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp insists the pressure is all on Manchester City

“There is no pressure on us,” declared Redknapp. “At the start of the year we all felt that if anyone was going to break in to the top four then realistically it was going to be Manchester City.

“You could see the regular four teams being there with maybe Manchester City the one club that could push into the group with the resources and the money they have spent, so there is no real pressure on us.

“They have bought some fantastic players, Carlos Tevez, Emmanuel Adebayor and Craig Bellamy, they had a real go in the summer and improved their squad massively.

“I think Manchester City will eventually go on and win the championship in three or four years. It is a powerful outfit with the owners they have got now.

“At the start of the season, we would have been delighted with a European place at the start of the year or being in the top seven, so to have a chance of making the Champions League is great for us.

“To be involved in something at this stage of the season, is a massive game for us. We have been up there all year looking to try and break into the top four at the end of the season.

“It would be nice if we could be there. But it is going to be tough. It’s between us and Manchester City. If we don’t win tomorrow it will go to the last game.

“We have both got difficult games at the weekend, we go to Burnley and Man City have got a tough game at West Ham.

“Everybody wants to win in front of their fans in the last game of the season, no-one wants to get beat. You don’t want to end the season on a downer and Burnley and West Ham will want to win.

“But tomorrow we will want to go up there and get a positive result.

“If we could finish fourth I would be delighted. This is a good opportunity for this year. We’ve played some great football this year and if we finish fourth, it would be no more than we deserve.

“I don’t get carried away and look at personal achievements. I just get on with my job and do my best. It is the players who will have done it.

“We will give it our best shot, if we finish fourth great, if not we will try again next year.”

  1. Huge game. Massive implications. Let’s not forget the money either. As Harry rightly points out the pressure is all on City, we hold fourth spot they have to come to win so its going to be an open game. A draw is good for us but of course we want to win. If our boys can pull the trigger and put away thirty per cent of the chances that we have been creating then we will be ok. And in recent weeks we have been very wasteful in front of goal. Yes we may deserve to be in the Champions League but you don’t always get what you deserve but you do deserve what you get. Our destiny is firmly in our hands so let’s go out there and take it. On a different subject, wasn’t it good to see Arsenal get beat again? I watched the game with two gooners and all they could say was its been eleven years no mention of the five one shallacking we gave them in the cup couple seasons back all they said to that was they had their kids on. Yeah right. It could happen that if results don’t go their way then they won’t finish in third spot ie: we see off City and Burnley and they lose to Fulham on the final day. Now that would be sweet. First things first though City tomorrow night. COYS. Lillywhitetilidie.

  2. Everyone's eye-ing up 3rd! Good to see SPURS fans having half an idea of what their club is about. Pre-season "Wouldn't it be nice if we were in the top half of the table" comments make me want to throw up!

  3. not just the money but look at the interest in our players so far, if we get in champions league they will stay for sure but if we choke at the last hurdle again then

bale lennon modric palacios etc could jump ship and our dream will be another 4 years away
