Redknapp’s striker problem

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp says it is a tough decision to know which of his strikers to select.

Redknapp has opted to play Jermain Defoe and Robbie Keane in the majority of matches, but Peter Crouch’s midweek hat-trick has given him a selection headache ahead of the Burnley clash.

“I’ll have to throw darts at a dartboard,” he told Hotspur magazine. “No, seriously, it’s a difficult one.

“I started with Robbie and Jermain and a lot of people thought they couldn’t play together, but they worked superbly and we had four fantastic results with them together.

“Crouchy, who I think an awful lot of, has been patient and Pav can score goals – a great finisher. I’m very lucky to have these four strikers.”

  1. Crouchy can score against average opposition as he showed us all midweek, but against the better teams i doubt he will be able to make as much of an impact, i think both Crouchy and Pav should get starts against the weaker teams in the Prem but we should retain Keane and Defoe for the bigger games, im sure that both Keane and Defoe would understand if they got to warm the bench afew time against the weaker opposition, with good team spirit in mind : )

  2. Drop Keane…..Crouch and Defoe for me. Frankly, i am not angry at Keane for joining Liverpool earlier. Keane is just not good enough as he is constantly missing chances after chances to score. Harry should select players based on current form, not past reputation.

  3. Nelson I totally agree. I don’t thing 2 big strikers work. I don’t think two little work. I think Defoe and crouch were good for pompy and they didn’t have as good a midfield as we do. Players like palacios and Lennon can definately pass well (cross or through ballls). Jenas can pass well. Hudd is exceptional at passin. These players can feed Defoe who is one of the best finishers in the prem. Crouch may not be that critical in front of goal but midweek he showed he is improving. I think keane is off form a bs should be dropped for kranjcar.

  4. Keane has never had a good strike rate. Loads of chances needed to get goals. But they come in spurts. 12 games in and he’ll have 9 league goals. Just watch.

  5. agree with nelson. Keane has too many average games and misses chances that defoe puts away for fun, when he plays well he is good don’t get me wrong, but would like to see him off the bench rather than starting eleven. Also kranjar start in the middle with wilson and bale on left.
