Redknapp’s post match comments vs Chelsea

A point was a fair result reflected Harry Redknapp after Tottenham’s 1-1 draw against Chelsea.

“They pressed us in the second half, their mindset was to come on to us and we took a backwards step,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.

“I told them we had to keep being positive but credit to Chelsea, they’re champions and they don’t give up.

“Gomes has done great for us and it was a great save.

“It was a good, open game. They attacked us and we attacked them. It was an open game.

“It says that we’re as good a side as almost anybody. We’ll only get stronger.”

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. It must be real frustrating for the outfield players who are giving 101% throughout the whole game and then to have the keeper to make a blunder like that. The penalty save doesn't change a thing. The ball was straight at him and god knows what he was doing. Cuddicini needs a run out and Gomes needs to sit on the bench and think!

  2. With a bit of luck, we could have won this match. It is a pity we are still not able to keep a clean sheet and maintain our lead till the end. Otherwise, a great effort from Spurs against a re-vitalized Chelsea and certainly a most entertaining match to watch.

  3. Not to bad for a team who’s best players are missing, King, Hudd, Jenas, Kranjcar, Gallas, Van der Vaart all out injured! We will only get better!

  4. a good number of our players were outstanding against chelsea yesterday. i thought hutton, dawson, bassong, ekotto, modric, palacios and defoe all played really well. the rest got pass marks, but would have liked to have seen bale and lennon do a bit more. bale needs to learn to lose his man soon or every team are going to man mark him out of matches. modric is now showing just how good a player he actually is.

  5. 99% agree, but I think it's a bit much to expect Bale to keep that same level for every match. I was particularly pleased witht he performances of Modric, Dawson & Palacios who matched Essien

  6. Chelsea are below par so it was not a fair result. That's Spurs' third draw on the trot but we still should have beaten a side that could not win at home against Everton,we've lost a bit of form.

  7. a bit disapointed with the result, but surely now redknapp must realise that crouch should never start and pav is our best option up front. i was never convinved by defoe and his display on sunday proved that. we were outplayed in 2nd half , looked a bit jaded and in the end luck to come away with a point.
