Redknapp’s post match comments vs Hearts

Harry Redknapp - Tottenham Hotspur News

Harry Redknapp claimed he could not ask for more of his players after Tottenham demolished Hearts 5-0 in the Europa League.

Goals from Rafael van der Vaart, Jermain Defoe, Jake Livermore, Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon mean that next week’s second leg is a mere formality.

The Spurs manager told ITV4: “We were expecting a tough game – it’s an intimidating place to come – but we started well and passed the ball great.

“There was great movement everywhere, I couldn’t have asked for more. It was excellent.

“Jake did well and Andros (Townsend) came on and did well. It was good for them to get a chance to play and hopefully we can keep doing that in the competition.

“It’s one game and you can’t get carried away – it’ll be different on Monday night at Old Trafford, that’s for sure.”

  1. and i wish he could see we are only about 2/3 players away from being real title challengers on that display. OK was only Hearts but i could see real improvement frm last season with pace down right flank aswell as left in Walker instead of one-paced Corluka. Midfield and strikers were lively with plenty of intelligent movement an triangles that bewildered Hearts at times. We looked like we could score at will. I just pray Harry doesnt play down our chances v United as he normally does cos to beat 'em you have to actually believe you can and we have lied down an died or have been terribly unlucky against them so many times.

  2. Good to see Tom back. His pass for Bale's goal sums up just some of what we have been missing.

Don't agree with the derision of Corluka, but otherwise it was nice to watch a comfortable game. We needed that before the formality of United.
