Redknapp’s post match comments vs Newcastle

Harry Redknapp

Harry Redknapp has urged his Tottenham players to keep their discipline after Younes Kaboul was sent off in the 2-0 win against Newcastle.

Spurs were leading 1-0 at the time when Kaboul came head-to-head with Tiote. Kaboul had already been booked and was Tottenham’s second red card in as many games.

“He is sorry for what he has done but you can’t do that. He had already had a booking and we were winning the game,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.

“You can throw games away like that but he will learn. He has been in fantastic form for us.”

“A fantastic result. We went one-up and then we had a man sent off again and I’m disappointed with that,” he added.

“You have to keep your discipline at that stage but the lads were fantastic after that.

“We kept the ball well and went and scored another goal with 10 men.”

He added: “It was difficult to get a game going out there. Newcastle worked hard, they were very organised and had three in midfield.

“But we didn’t want to get pulled into a messy game and we got the result in the end with a little bit of class.”

  1. I almost have sympathy for kaboul. I’m not surprised one of our players eventually boiled over. Stoke are labelled a dirty team but Newcastle were appalling. They kicked and elbowed their way to defeat. It was disgraceful… And even more disgraceful was that the ref let them get away with it. No wonder Barton was locked up. He’s truly one of the world’s most detestable individuals. There should be no place for people like him, or his team, in football. Genuinely shocking. I hope they get relegated just so as to teach them a lesson. Alas, it won’t happen, life tells us that, just look at Barton. A very sad indictment of life and the game I love.

    • Never mind Barton what about that dirty shite Tiote!!! He was kickin lumps out of people all day and was lucky to be subbed instead of sent off!!

  2. Stoney..since our team have improved EVERY opposing team has had a go at us physically. If I had copies of all the matches I could make a hour long collection of three sec illegal(and unpunished) "incidents" which have been inflicted on our players this season and TOTALLY ignored by the referee with Bale, Modric, Lennon, VdV, Pav, Defoe, Palaciois & crouch copping most. As Wilson is our"hardman" some of the incidents seemed to be aimed at damn near killing him & yes i am bigoted as i have watched morons play this way for a long time.
Had this been a CL cup match NU would NOT have had 7 players onfield at the end.

You expect this from the Neanderthals of the North, even MU & LPool are quite capable of it but even London & Midlands teams are doing it. In 59-60 this sort of tactic cost us the league IMHO and while the main aim is to prevent the attack progressing, the secondary aim is to anger or hurt and anyone who disagrees wit this latter is blind. Sure everyone can make a bad tackle but not half a dozen times vs us in the same match like that moron Tiote who should NOT have made it past 45. What do we have to do to the referees to expect fair play? Pay them?

    • Totally. That guy is a machine. How he runs around like that considering he only did it two days before against villa. He’s why we can still play with ten men and win. Bale gets all the plaudits but modders has been our payer of the season so far. Pure class.
