Redknapp’s post match comments vs Newcastle

Harry Redknapp

Harry Redknapp has urged his Tottenham players to keep their discipline after Younes Kaboul was sent off in the 2-0 win against Newcastle.

Spurs were leading 1-0 at the time when Kaboul came head-to-head with Tiote. Kaboul had already been booked and was Tottenham’s second red card in as many games.

“He is sorry for what he has done but you can’t do that. He had already had a booking and we were winning the game,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.

“You can throw games away like that but he will learn. He has been in fantastic form for us.”

“A fantastic result. We went one-up and then we had a man sent off again and I’m disappointed with that,” he added.

“You have to keep your discipline at that stage but the lads were fantastic after that.

“We kept the ball well and went and scored another goal with 10 men.”

He added: “It was difficult to get a game going out there. Newcastle worked hard, they were very organised and had three in midfield.

“But we didn’t want to get pulled into a messy game and we got the result in the end with a little bit of class.”
