Redknapp’s post match comments vs Stoke

Harry Redknapp

Harry Redknapp felt that his Tottenham side deserved their 2-1 win at Stoke City.

It could have been all so different for us at the Britannia Stadium if the referee had awarded Stoke a late equaliser when Jonathan Walters’ header appeared to cross the line.

We’ve had plenty of bad luck in the past ourselves which such decisions and the mind immediately thinks of Pedro Mendes from the half-way line at Old Trafford.  The main fact is, we’ve got our first win of the new Premier League campaign thanks to a brace from Gareth Bale.

“We deserved to win,” Redknapp told the official site.

“In the first half, we passed it unbelievably. They couldn’t get near us.

“Tom Huddlestone had control of the game, we passed it in midfield and it was a fantastic second goal from Gareth.

“If anything, we should have gone in further ahead, I thought we should have scored just before half-time.

“You know you are going to come under pressure here, that’s the way they play.

“The ball will come into the box in the second half, especially if you are 2-1 up. You know that and you have to deal with it.

“You will get scrambles if the ball keeps coming into your box enough times and you have to keep trying to get it away.

“You will be under pressure, it’s difficult not to be and we knew that would happen.

“Stoke work their socks off and Tony (Pulis) gets the best out of his players every week. They never give you an easy game and there won’t be many teams who come here and win this season.

“It’s a tough place to come and win and a fantastic win for us.”
