Referee announced for City clash – Spurs have won just one from last six under him

It has been confirmed that Mike Dean will take charge of Tottenham Hotspur’s clash against Manchester City this weekend.

This game will be a huge test of Tottenham’s potential title credentials as they face off against a side who remain one of the favourites for the Premier League this season.

Several key players, including Sergio Aguero, Fernandinho and Benjamin Mendy are expected to return for City ahead of their trip to London (Football.London).

Some Spurs fans may consider the news that Dean will officiate the game as another ominous sign ahead of the clash.

Interestingly, City’s 2-0 loss at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last season was the last Spurs game Dean was in-charge of.

However, that is Tottenham’s only win out of the last six encounters in which Dean has been the referee.

Given that 52-year-old averages one spot-kick every three games this season, the fact that Serge Aurier is likely to start on Saturday after Matt Doherty tested positive for COVID-19, may not fill Tottenham fans with hope.
