Reguilon reveals Spurs player welcomed him with ‘a long WhatsApp message’

Sergio Reguilon has revealed that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg made him feel at home as soon as the left-back arrived at Spurs by sending him a long welcome message through WhatsApp.

Hojbjerg was the first of the seven singings Spurs made during the summer window and while the Dane was by no means the biggest name to arrive through the door, he has arguably proven to be the most important acquisition among the newcomers.

Reguilon, who arrived from Real Madrid along with Gareth Bale is another of the new arrivals who has settled it quickly in North London and established himself as a regular in the side.

The left-back, who is currently out with an injury has already displayed the abundance of pace and energy he has as well as his ability to whip-in inch-perfect crosses with his left foot.

The Spaniard opened up on the message that Hojbjerg sent after he signed for the club.

Reguilon said during his appearance on Spurs TV’s N17 Live show on 7/1/21: “One thing that nobody knows is that Pierre, as soon as I arrived, he sent me a long WhatsApp message welcoming me to the team.

“He said ‘Hi, welcome to Tottenham. I’m Pierre-Emile Hobjerg. I hope you do well. We need you to do your work for the team.’

“I was surprised, because it was a big message! He went into detail about the team-mates, about the coach, all of it. I was like ‘OK!’

“When you arrive in a new city and a new country, it’s important to have people and players who help you, and Pierre is one of them.”
