Tottenham Hotspur were already struggling with injuries at the top end of the pitch, but yet more misery has been piled on today.
Spurs released an official statement on their website that revealed Steven Bergwijn would face an extended period of rehabilitation following an injury sustained this week.
The Dutch winger was seen limping in the dying minutes against Burnley on Saturday and the club claim that he suffered a significant sprain to his left ankle.
Tottenham’s January signing from PSV joins the likes of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son on the sidelines ahead of the crucial Champions League match against Leipzig this week.
Kane was been out since January 1 with a hamstring injury and Son fractured his arm in February against Aston Villa. Both then required surgery to correct the problems.
Bergwijn and Moura have predominantly been deployed as makeshift strikers since the injuries to Son and Kane.
