Wolfsburg’s managing director for sport, Jorg Schmadtke has ruled out the possibility of rumoured Tottenham target Maxence Lacroix leaving the club this summer.
The last few days have been a bit of a whirlwind for Spurs fans, with the North London club now expected to complete the captures of Bryan Gil from Sevilla and Pierluigi Gollini from Atalanta.
Tottenham are also set to strengthen their backline with Fabio Paratici reportedly locked in talks to sign both Cristian Romero and Takehiro Tomiyasu.
However, Lacroix is not expected to join the aforementioned players in North London next season if Schmadtke’s latest assertion is to be taken at face value.
Previous reports from Germany had suggested that Spurs were competing with RB Leipzig for the 21-year-old centre-back, who was allegedly valued at £25.7m (€30m).
However, the Wolfsburg director has now asserted that Lacroix will be staying put at the Volkswagen Arena for at least one more season.
When asked about the speculation regarding the Frenchman’s future, Schmadtke told Sportbuzzer (as relayed by BuliNews): “We have rejected everything. It’s no longer a topic.

If Tottenham have pulled out of talks with Wolfsburg for Lacroix, that could well be a sign that Paratici expects the Romero deal to be finalised.
I suspect the Frenchman was always seen by Paratici as a potential backup in case a deal cannot be struck with Atalanta for Romero.
