Some Tottenham Hotspur fans have called on Dilan Markanday to be promoted to the Nuno Espiritio Santo’s squad, after yet another impressive performance in the academy setup.
The 20-year-old has been in lethal form for Spurs’ U23 side, scoring four goals in three appearances in the Premier League 2 to open the season.
He carried on that form for the development side in their EFL Trophy opener against Stevenage on Tuesday, by showing a creative side to his game.
Markanday provided two assists in the meeting at Broadhall Way, setting up Yago Santiago’s strike and Harvey White’s second of the night as Spurs edged past with a 4-3 win.
The young forward has had some experience with the senior team this season afer being called up to the Europa Conference League squad in Spurs’ second-leg win against Pacos de Ferreira.
He remained as an unused substitute ultimately and is still waiting for his senior debut, but his performances in the youth sides this season have led Spurs fans to believe he will gain his chance very soon.

Spurs Web Opinion
Markanday has been a consistent performer for the Spurs youth sides, and has been playing at a level above his age group for a while now. If he keeps this up, there will no doubt be an opportunity for him to at least spend his time training with the senior team.
