Report: Spurs ‘insider’ discusses ‘only way’ Spurs will sack Nuno

An alleged Tottenham ‘insider’, John Wenham, has told Football Insider that the North London club will sack Nuno Espirito Santo if Mauricio Pochettino becomes available.

Three successive Premier League defeats has seen Nuno come under a lot of pressure, with the Spurs boss having to bat off questions regarding the team’s negative style of play last week.

Some sources have suggested that some Tottenham players have not warmed to Nuno’s methods while The Sun even claimed that the Portuguese coach is now fighting to save his job.

Before confirming Nuno as Jose Mourinho’s successor over the summer, the Lilywhites reportedly tried to bring Pochettino back to N17.

It was even claimed at the time that the Argentine was keen on a return to North London as he was said to be unhappy at PSG.

However, the 49-year-old ended up staying in Paris and has since put pen to paper on a contract extension with the Ligue 1 giants.

Wenham has now suggested that Tottenham are continuing to monitor Pochettino’s situation and will move for him if he becomes available.

He told Football Insider: “Tottenham are watching the situation at PSG.

“The Messi-Pochettino thing has somewhat quietened down by the looks of things.

“If Pochettino became available, would Tottenham replace Nuno with him?

“I think they would. All you have to do is look at how hard Levy went for him in the summer.

“They were scared off by the financial muscle of PSG. I think that is the only way Tottenham would get rid of Nuno.”

Spurs Web Opinion

While one would expect Tottenham to be monitoring Pochettino’s situation at PSG, I do not think a return to Spurs is on the cards for the Argentine anytime soon.

We kissed our chances of re-signing 49-year-old goodbye, the moment we appointed Fabio Paratici as the managing director of football. If Pochettino were to return, one would imagine that he would want to be a manager rather than just a head coach.
