Report: 17-goal winger would be open to following manager to Spurs

Italian journalist, Paolo Bargiggia, has claimed that Lorenzo Insigne is ready to follow Maurizio Sarri to Tottenham if the Italian replaces Jose Mourinho at Spurs.

Tottenham suffered a blow in their pursuit of a new head coach this week, with the club missing out on Julian Nagelsmann and Erik Ten Hag, who were both said to be high on their list of potential candidates for the job.

Sources from Italy have linked Sarri with the Spurs job, with Football Italia reporting that the 62-year-old’s representatives had been contacted by the North London club’s hierarchy.

However, it has also been claimed that the former Chelsea boss is more likely to take over at AS Roma than Spurs.

The Italian press continues to suggest that a move to N17 is on the cards for Sarri, with Bargiggia now naming Tottenham along with Roma as potential destinations for the 60-year-old.

The journalist also asserted that Insigne is ready to follow his former Napoli boss to Rome or London.

The experienced winger, who has been a key player for Napoli as well as the Azuri for the best part of the last decade, only has 12 months left on his contract at the recently-renamed Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

Bargiggia told Area Napoli this about the 29-year-old winger: “The future of Insigne could travel on the same tracks as that of Sarri.

“The offensive winger has found himself very well with the coach and would be willing to follow him to Rome or Tottenham or some other destination.”
