Report: £17m-rated midfielder offered to Tottenham by Champions League rival

A report in this week’s edition of SportBild (as relayed by Sport Witness) has revealed that RB Leipzig midfielder Emil Fosberg has been offered to several Premier League clubs, including Spurs.

The 28-year-old midfielder is reportedly frustrated at the lack of opportunities at the Red Bull Arena this season and has decided that he wants to leave, with the Premier League said to be his prefered destination.

The Swedish international came off the bench to help Leipzig see out their lead last Wednesday as they emerged 1-0 winners over Spurs in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 tie.

After the game, the Spurs boss was quite envious of the options Leipzig had on the bench and in doing so he praised two of the Bundesliga side’s players, including Forsberg (Goal.com).

In response to Mourinho’s comments, Fosberg’s agent Hasan Cetinkaya said he wasn’t surprised by the Portuguese coach’s words and hinted that the former Malmo star could be on the move from Leipzig soon  (Expressen).

The latest report by SportBild reveals that the midfielder is valued at €20 million by the Bundesliga club and that he has also been offered to Manchester United, Arsenal, Leicester and Everton.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Fosberg has a lot of experience and can be a decent squad option, he is not really good enough to take us to the next level. Additionally, we are not really in desperate need of attacking midfielders at the moment and so I expect other positions to be prioritised in the summer.
