Report: 18-year-old spotted training with Spurs first-team earlier this week

In a recent video of first-team training on Tottenham’s official YouTube channel, young goalkeeper Luca Gunter can seen training with the senior side at Hotspur Way.

The video which was focused on Brennan Johnson‘s first training outing with his new Spurs teammates earlier this week showed Gunter in the background also participating in the session.

The 18-year-old shot-stopper turned out on 23 occasions for Tottenham’s Under-18s last season and made his Premier League 2 debut for the club last month, has also been capped by England at Under-15, Under-16 and Under-17 levels.

Tottenham’s academy looks bright for the future

The teenager was presumably called up to tend to goal as Johnson and Tottenham’s other attackers took part in shooting practice.

It is unlikely that Gunter is going to get anywhere near the first-team squad this season, with Ange Postecoglou naming three senior goalkeepers in his 25-man Premier League squad after Hugo Lloris’ move away from North London.

However, the teenager would be hoping that he caught the eye of Tottenham’s goalkeeping coach, Rob Burch, who also came through the academy system.

Spurs Web Opinion

There has been a steady stream of different academy youngsters training with the first-team since Postecoglou arrived at the club, with the Australian and his coaching staff evidently quite keen to get a closer look at all of the club’s best young talents.
