Report: 22-year-old is stalling on signing new Tottenham contract

According to All Nigeria Soccer, Tottenham youngster Tobi Omole is stalling on signing a new contract offered to him by the North London club.

Omole joined Tottenham’s development squad in October 2020 from their local rivals Arsenal, following a successful trial period with the Lilywhites.

The versatile defender, who can play as a centre-back, full-back or as a defensive midfielder, has been a key player for the club’s Under-23s this season, having made 13 appearances and scored two goals (Transfermarkt).

All Nigeria Soccer claim that Spurs have been impressed with Omole’s development and have offered him a new contract, with the 22-year-old’s current deal with Spurs said to be running out at the end of the season.

However, Omole is yet to make a decision on his future and is allegedly stalling on putting pen to paper on the deal.

The report adds that Spurs are still hopeful that the youngster will commit his future to the club.

Given that Omole was on the bench against Rennes and NS Mura in the Europa Conference League earlier this season, it is clear that the 22-year-old is highly rated at the club.

Let’s hope that he does not go down the same route as Markanday and Cirkin by deciding that dropping down to the lower leagues would be better for his development.
