Report: 22-year-old Tottenham target has a release clause of £87m

Calciomercato have revealed that Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who is of interest to Spurs and Juventus, has a release clause of €100m (£87.2m) on his contract.

Marca were the first to report back in the summer that Tottenham were keen on snapping up Mamardashvili. The report suggested that the goalkeeper was also on the radar of Manchester United but in the end, the 22-year-old stayed put at the Mestalla.

Mamardashvili has established himself as the undisputed first choice between the sticks at Los Che this campaign, having started all ten of the club’s La Liga games so far.

The print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (20/10/22 as relayed by Sport Witness) reported earlier this week that Juventus had also entered the race for the Valencia number one.

This information has now been backed up by Calciomercato, who suggest that Juve scouts have been watching the goalkeeper closely this season.

The report adds that Spurs are still in the picture for Mamardashvili’s signature after missing out on him in the summer.

It is also revealed that the Georgian international’s release clause was raised from €20m (£17.4m) to €100m (£87.2m) after he signed a new deal with Gennaro Gattuso’s side.

Spurs Web Opinion

I personally do not think Lloris has shown any signs of decline as of yet and I can see him continuing to be our number one for two more years.

However, if Spurs do plan on replacing the Frenchman when his contract runs out in 2024, someone young like Mamardashvili and Meslier would be the right way to go as they could potentially be our number one for the next decade or more.
