Report: 22-year-old who impressed during Spurs’ pre-season could be set to leave

According to a report by Swedish news outlet FotbollDirekt, Alfie Whiteman is being linked with a move to Degerfors.

Two goalkeepers have departed Tottenham already this summer, with Paulo Gazzaniga joining Fulham after his contract with the North Londoners expired and Joe Hart recently completing a move to Celtic.

Pierluigi Gollini has arrived at Spurs on an initial loan deal from Atalanta, with the club having the option to make the deal permanent for £13m.

It appears that Whiteman could be the latest goalkeeper to head out N17 before the transfer window shuts at the end of the month.

FotbollDirek claim that Degerfors are looking to replace their former number one, Ismael Diawara, who is set to complete a move to Malmo and have identified Whiteman as a target.

The Swedish club are thought to be in negotiations with Spurs for the 22-year-old, with the report stating that the shot-stopper ‘will join the club soon’.

The report does not specify Whiteman is set to join Degerfors on loan or if he is expected to complete a seal a permanent deal.

At 22 years of age, it is now time for Whiteman to start playing regularly so that he can fast-forward his development. I would not be surprised if Tottenham do sell the academy graduate permanently. That could be an indication and Nuno and his coaching staff trust Joshua Oluwayemi to be the third choice next season.
