Report: 23-year-old Spurs target prefers Premier League transfer

Ajax goalkeeper, Andre Onana, who is reportedly on Tottenham’s radar for this summer, is said to prefer a move to the Premier League as several European giants fight for his signature.

Onana is said to be one of the first names on Spurs’ wishlist in the summer as Jose Mourinho looks to bring in the Cameroonian shot-stopper to push Hugo Lloris for the number one spot (The Sun).

Spurs have several issues to sort out on the goalkeeping front in the summer with Michel Vorm’s contract expiring at the end of the season and Paul Gazzaniga failing to cover himself in glory on a few occasions this campaign.

While Lloris has been in fine form since his return from injury, he was arguably at fault for both of Leipzig’s opening two goals in Tottenham’s 3-0 defeat to the Bundesliga side last week, as well as Burnley’s opener in the Premier League.

Now, Goal.com have revealed that Onana is expected to leave Ajax this summer and wishes to complete a move to England.

However, they claim that it is Chelsea who are favourites to land the 23-year-old when the transfer market reopens. It is claimed that Onana is willing to move to Stamford Bridge and is ready to fight Kepa Arrizabalaga for the number one spot.

Spurs Web Opinion

Chelsea have an upper hand in this race as they are clearly looking for a number one. Onana will believe he has a better chance of seeing off competition from Arrizabalaga than Hugo Lloris. I expect us to sign a reserve keeper in the summer but I don’t think we will go for a number one just yet.
