According to The Sunday Mirror (17/3; page 64), Japhet Tanganga is still waiting for confirmation on whether Tottenham Hotspur are going to activate the one-year extension on his current deal.
Following in the footsteps of Harry Winks and Joe Rodon, Tanganga is now getting his career back on track after dropping down to the Championship.
The centre-back has been near flawless for Millwall since joining the South East London club on loan in January and is seemingly getting better with each game.
Last week, the defender’s agent Roberto de Fenti, opened the door to a potential switch to Serie A for his client in the summer and confirmed that although his contract with contract with Tottenham runs out in June, the North London club have the option to extend it by one year (CalcioNapoli24).

Tanganga waiting to see if Spurs want to keep him
The Sunday Mirror have now pointed out that while Tanganga is free to discuss a pre-contract agreement with non-English sides, the defender cannot sign any deal until he receives confirmation from his parent club.
It is explained that the 24-year-old does not know whether he will be allowed to leave Hotspur Way as a free agent in the summer or if Spurs will take the option to extend his deal until 2025.

Even though Tanganga is not part of Postecoglou’s plans, one would expect Tottenham to activate the one-year extension for the centre-back so that they can get a transfer fee for him in the summer.
