Report: 24-year-old set to snub Spurs interest in favour of move to La Liga

According to reports from Turkey, Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir is set to reject Tottenham’s advances and sign for Sevilla instead.

Cakir is considered one of the best up and coming goalkeeping talents in world football and has shined for both club and country for the past few years.

Earlier reports have claimed that Spurs have already seen an offer for the 24-year-old rejected by Trabzonspor (Karadeniz Gazete).

Newcastle United (HaberTS) and Liverpool (TuttoMercatoWeb) have also been credit with an interest in the shot-stopper.

However, Sporx now claim that the Turkish international wants to reject offers from both Spurs and Liverpool in favour of a move to Seville.

It is claimed that the Trabzonspor hierarchy are surprised at Cakir’s decision as they wanted to sell him to a Premier League side in order to maximise the transfer fee they would receive.

The report suggests that the goalkeeper has made his decision as he believes he is more likely to be the number one straight away at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.

Spurs Web Opinion

Going by recent reports it looks like Mike Maignan is the goalkeeper we are after rather than Cakir, which would be unsurprising given that Nuno Santos has worked with the Frenchman at Lille. I still do not believe we are likely to go for a potential number one this summer due to our financial issues and that we will put off shopping for Lloris’ long-term replacement until next summer.
