Report: 24-year-old Spurs player’s transfer decision may create Conte headache

Football.London have reported that Antonio Conte might have a decision to make this summer regarding strengthening at centre-back as Joe Rodon is expected to push for a move away from Tottenham.

Rodon has hardly been handed any opportunities since Conte arrived at Spurs but the youngster did show his class for Wales during the international break.

However, Football.London have now revealed that the former Swansea man is expected to push for a move this summer, either on loan or in a permanent deal.

The report explains that, as things stand, Tottenham plan to sign a left-sided centre-back in the next transfer window.

If Rodon leaves, however, it is explained that the Lilywhites could lack cover for Eric Dier in the central sweeper role and the North London club could thus be forced to sign another central defender.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Rodon leaves and we sign a left-sided centre-back, that would leave Conte with six options for three positions, with Dier, Romero, Sanchez, Tanganga, and Davies already at the club. So, unless one of Sanchez and Tanganga also follow Rodon out of the door this summer, I do not think Spurs will sign two central defenders.
