Report: 24-year-old’s is agent having ‘open discussions’ with Tottenham

Tuttosport have claimed that the agent of Club America centre-back Sebastian Caceres is holding talks with Tottenham over a January transfer.

Caceres has emerged as one of the best central defenders in the Mexican top flight but it is his performances for the Uruguayan national side over the last 12 months that have shot him to the limelight.

Over the last couple of months, several outlets have claimed that Spurs are keeping an eye on the 24-year-old ahead of January (90 min).

Journalist Fernando Esquivel even claimed last month that the Lilywhites offered £3m plus a percentage as a sell-on clause for the defender but Club America turned down the bid as they were holding out for a fee of around £7m for the player.

Sebastian Caceres’ agent is in talks with Spurs

Tuttosport have now mentioned Tottenham while reporting on Torino’s pursuit of Caceres.

The outlet says that the Serie A side are keen to bolster their options at centre-back and working behind the scenes on a deal for the Uruguayan.

It is alleged that the Italian club are willing to offer €7m (£6m) including bonuses for the defender but the Mexican club are not willing to budge on their asking price of €10m (£8.6m).

The publication asserts that Caceres’ representative is also having ‘open discussions’ with Spurs, Napoli and Sevilla.

Caceres might be one of several centre-backs that has been flagged by Tottenham’s data-led approach but there is nothing concrete to indicate that the 24-year-old is one of the top names on the North London club’s wishlist.
