Report: 25-year-old agrees to join La Liga club after Spurs allegedly made ‘concrete contacts’

Chelsea centre-back Andreas Christensen, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar, has agreed to join Barcelona in the summer, according to Sport.

Christensen’s current deal Stamford Bridge set to run out at the end of the season (Transfermarkt).

Cacliomercato.it claimed last week that Antonio Conte, who managed the Dane during his time in charge of the Blues, wants to reunite with the defender in North London.

The report stated that Spurs had ‘concrete contacts’ with the defender’s agent over a move across the English capital in the summer.

However, Fabrizio Romano claimed that Christensen would not consider a proposal from any Premier League club out of respect to Chelsea.

If Sport’s latest update is to be believed, Barcelona now look set to win the race for Christensen. The report states that the Catalonian giants have ‘practically agreed’ a four-year contract with the Chelsea star ahead of the summer.

It is explained that Barca have been in negotiations with the centre-back’s agent for ‘many months’ and the player has now given a ‘verbal okay’ to the move.

Spurs Web Opinion

Christensen would have been a perfect fit for Conte’s back three and it was not surprising that Spurs tried to snap him up, particularly with his contract running out.

However, snapping him up was always going to be next to impossible for Spurs, given his Chelsea connection and the fact that he is sought after by the biggest clubs in Europe.
