Report: 26-year-old expected to be sold by Spurs in search of regular football

A report examining the changes that could happen at Tottenham Hotspur this summer suggests Davinson Sanchez could be on his way out of the club.

Davinson Sanchez joined Tottenham from Ajax in 2017, in what was a club-record deal at the time reportedly worth £42 million (The Guardian).

The Colombian international has made 204 appearances for Spurs in his six years at the club (Transfermarkt). However, he has found himself increasingly sidelined over the last year.

There is no denying Sanchez has put in some poor performances this season. His lowest point however undoubtedly came when the Spurs supporters vented their frustration at Sanchez during the defeat against Bournemouth.

With a little over a year left on his current contract, Sanchez’s future remains up in the air. Reports out of Spain last month suggested Sevilla may be keen on offering the 26-year-old a way out of Spurs in the summer (Antena 2).

Now, a report from Football.London has mooted Sanchez as a player likely set for the exit doors at Tottenham this summer as the club look to rebuild.

While Sanchez has turned down chances to leave in the past in order to “fight for his place” at Spurs, it is now thought the player will “seek regular football this summer.”

If Sanchez is willing to leave, Spurs will also be intent on trying to “recoup some sort of fee” against the huge outlay they paid back in 2017.

Spurs Web Opinion

Davinson Sanchez’s time at Spurs has to be up. He cannot be enjoying his football here, the fans are on his back, and he’s not even getting a decent amount of game time.

It’s in the interest of every party for Sanchez to move on, settle at a new club where he will play regularly, and then we can bring in a new defender.
