Report: 27-year-old could return to the Premier League just one year after Spurs exit

Davinson Sanchez only left Spurs last summer, but his time in Turkey could come to an end this year after reports suggest the Colombian defender is now wanted by Newcastle United and Napoli.

After joining Tottenham in 2017, Sanchez made 207 appearances for the Lilywhites (Transfermarkt). However, his time in North London wasn’t always easy, and he came under criticism from the fans at the club on a number of occasions.

The 27-year-old was moved on at the end of the summer transfer market last year, sealing a permanent move to Turkish giants, Galatasaray. He’s had a great season with his new club, too, registering three goals and two assists in 25 matches (Transfermarkt).

Davinson Sanchez wanted by Newcastle

However, whether he remains with the club beyond this season remains to be seen, and it’s all down to the fact that his performances this term have caught the eye of other clubs across Europe.

According to a report from Damga Gazetesi, Sanchez is now on the radar of Newcastle United and Napoli after turning in some impressive displays for Galatasaray this season and becoming one of the side’s “most important players.”

The situation is “expected to be discussed in the summer,” but Sanchez’s price is “increasing day by day.” While Galatasaray intend to “retain” Sanchez, it is thought a valuation of €17m (£14.5m) has been placed on the defender currently.

Apparently, “several Serie A and Premier League teams” are known to be interested, but it is Napoli and Newcastle who are named in this report.

To be honest, I think Sanchez has pretty much found his level over in Turkey, and a return to the Premier League would not be a good idea for him. He’s at a club who are consistently challenging for titles and competing in the Champions League, so why would he throw that away for Newcastle?
