Report: 27-year-old England goalkeeper could be an option for Spurs this summer

Burnley goalkeeper, Nick Pope, could be an option for Tottenham Hotspur this summer, according to Football.London.

There has been a lot of speculation regarding the goalkeeping role at Spurs in the last few weeks, with reports suggesting that Jose Mourinho is looking to bring in someone to push Hugo Lloris for his number one spot (Daily Mail).

Although Lloris has been in fine form since returning from injury, he was at fault for two of Leipzig’s three goals in Tottenham’s 3-0 away defeat to the Bundesliga side in the Champions League earlier this month.

Spurs have also been linked with moves for Aajx’s Andre Onana (The Sun), Lazio’s Thomas Strakosha (Il Tempo) and Sheffield United Dean Henderson (Daily Mail) but Football.London now reveal that Nick Pope could also be an option.

The England international has won his place back at Turf Moor and been in brilliant form this campaign after playing second fiddle last season. The report goes on to add that Lloris is set to remain first-choice for now.

It is suggested that the Lilywhites will not spend too much money on trying to sign a first-choice goalkeeper this summer, as they are said to have other priorities.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am quite relaxed about Lloris being our number one next season. I think his form has been good since returning from injury and I believe he has at least a couple of seasons left in him. On the other hand, I am far from convinced with Gazzaniga and believe we should try and upgrade on him in the summer if we can.
