Report: 27-year-old has reservations about transfer despite Spurs accepting bid

The Athletic have revealed that despite Tottenham Hotspur having accepted Spartak Moscow’s offer for Davinson Sanchez, the defender has reservations about joining the Russian club.

Earlier, we relayed an update from The Times which claimed that Spurs had accepted a €15m (£13m) offer from Spartak for the former club-record signing.

The report revealed that even though the centre-back is also on the radar of Real Betis, Sevilla and Galatasaray, however, it was the side from the Russian Premier League who have made the biggest bid.

Sanchez’s unsure of Spartak move

The Athletic have now backed up the claim about Spartak’s offer being accepted but they add that the Colombian is not yet entirely sold on joining the club.

It is explained that the 27-year-old is yet to agree personal terms with Spartak and there is some scepticism on whether he will give the green light to the transfer.

Russian clubs are currently banned from European competitions as the war in Ukraine continues and the publication also points out that black players have frequently been subject to racist abuse in the country.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is understandable why Sanchez would want to hold out to see if the likes of Real Betis and Sevilla make a move for him. At 27, the centre-back is theoretically still yet to reach his peak and would want to test himself in another top league after a difficult time at Tottenham.
