Report: 27-year-old Spurs target has now decided to stay at his current club

Sky Sport Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has revealed that rumoured Tottenham target Serhou Guirassy has now informed Stuttgart that he will not be leaving the club this month.

Unsurprisingly, Guirassy’s future has been the subject of quite a bit of speculation over the last couple of months, with the striker continuing to find the back of the net at a ridiculous rate in German football.

Many outlets over the last few weeks have continued naming Tottenham as a potential contender for the 27-year-old signature (Gazzetta dello Sport).

In fact, The Sun even claimed last month that the Guinea international, who has a £15m release clause in his contract, prefers to move to the North London club over other suitors.

Serhou Guirassy is set for a Stuttgart stay

Plettenberg has now taken to social media to reveal that Guirassy is now expected to remain at the MHPArena this month, having communicated that decision to his club.

The journalist claims that the aforementioned £15m release clause has already expired but he adds that several Premier League clubs have continued enquiring about the centre-forward.

Plettenberg says that barring ‘extraordinary’ developments, Guirassy’s decision to remain at Stuttgart until next summer is final.

Just like Feyenoord’s decision to hang on to Santiago Gimenez until the end of the season, this decision by Guirassy plays into Tottenham’s hands as Ange Postecoglou’s men will be plotting a move for a number nine next summer.
