Report: 28-year-old completes medical ahead of Spurs move

Football.London are reporting that Matt Doherty has passed his medical ahead of his transfer to Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham reportedly agreed on a fee of around £13million for the 28-year-old, who has been one of the most potent attacking wing-backs in the Premier League since Wolves’ promotion two years ago.

Ahead of finalising the transfer, the Republic of Ireland international was put through his paces at Hotspur Way on Saturday, with Tottenham reportedly keen to seal the transfer before he heads off on international duty.

Doherty will fly out to Bulgaria on Tuesday to join the Republic of Ireland squad for their Nations League clash on Thursday.

The report claims that the right-back is expected to be available for Tottenham’s first Premier League match of the season against Everton on September 13.

Once the deal for Doherty is completed, it is said that Spurs are now willing to listen to offers for Serge Aurier with Monaco, Bayern Leverkusen and AC Milan all credited with interest in the Ivorian.

Spurs Web Opinion

Not only have we been smart in identifying areas of weakness and solving them with sensible additions but we have also managed to strengthen considerably before the start of the new campaign. While we still need a striker and a centre-back at the very least, the club have done exceedingly well to move quickly to sign two top players in Hojbjerg and Doherty for a bargain price.
