Report: 28-year-old forward rejects Spurs enquiry – Door not closed on move later in the window

Memphis Depay has turned down a transfer enquiry made by Tottenham with the Barcelona forward opting to wait for other offers, according to Sport.

The Dutchman received a call from Spurs asking about his situation this week but has currently shelved their interest to see if better proposals arrive his way.

However, the reports adds that the door is not closed for Depay to move to North London, although Spurs have not yet made a formal offer with Barca asking for around €20 million (£17m).

Depay’s future in Spain has been plunged into doubt after just one season at the club following his move on a free transfer last summer.

AS claim Barcelona have made him available for transfer having deemed him surplus to requirements with the current depth of attacking options available to Xavi.

The Blaugrana recently sealed moves for Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha and confirmed a contract extension for Ousmane Dembele, who add to an attack of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ferran Torres.

Depay isn’t exactly the type of player Spurs need right now given Antonio Conte already has a decent amount of attacking options to choose from.

Interestingly, he hasn’t completely ruled out a move which could suggest he may not be confident of receiving other offers – even though he has a relatively cheap price tag.
