Reports in the British press have previously revealed that Tottenham have to sell players in order to buy this summer and that Lamela is one of those the club might cash in on.
Corriere dello Sport now suggest that the Argentine, whose contract with Spurs runs out in 2022, is set to return to Italy this summer.
The report reveals that Lamela would prefer to return to Roma but his former club have not shown an interest in taking him back.
The 29-year-old’s representatives are said to have held ‘intense contacts’ with Napoli, who have been installed as the favourites to sign him in the summer.
It is claimed that AC Milan have also made contact with the midfielder’s entourage over the last few days.
The report alleges that Lamela is looking for a ‘three to four-year contract’ and is willing to take a wage cut and settle for an annual figure of around €2m-2.5m per year.

Who we sell this summer is likely to be influenced hugely by the demand for different players in the squad as clubs around Europe do not have much money to throw around.
While Lamela has proved once again this season that he can be an important squad player, we could have little choice but to cash in on him if it is true that there are plenty of clubs in Italy who want him.
