Report: 30-year-old would consider proposal from Tottenham in January

According to the print edition of Marca (17/12/22 as relayed by Sport Witness) Atletico Madrid’s Yannick Carrasco will consider an offer from Tottenham if the North London club reignite their interest in him in January.

The report reveals that Spurs made an approach for Carrasco in the summer but the wing-back said ‘no’ since he wanted to remain at the Metropolitano Stadium.

However, things have not gone well for the Belgian this season as he is no longer a regular starter for Atletico. It is explained that the La Liga club would thus consider offers that come in for Carrasco over the next two transfer windows, particularly since his contract runs out in 2024.

The report states that Diego Simeone’s side are hopeful that the wing-back’s previous suitors will reignite their interest in the player.

Marca add that Carrasco himself would be open to leaving Atletico as his contract negotiations with the La Liga club have not gone well, and he is aware he could be ‘facing the last big contract of his career’ since he is now 30 years of age.

Spurs Web Opinion

Carrasco has been poor for Atletico this season and was also disappointing for Belgium at the World Cup. There are now clear signs that the 30-year-old might be past his best, which is why I think Spurs should steer clear of him.
