Report: 32-year-old centre-back is top of Spurs’ wishlist this summer

Jerome Boateng is at the top of Tottenham’s wishlist ahead of the summer transfer window, according to a report by German news outlet Bild

Bolstering the centre-back position is expected to be a priority for Spurs this summer, with Football.London’s Alasdair Gold revealing that the club would ideally want to sign two central defenders.

Sky Sports reported last week that Tottenham have already enquired about Boateng, who will be available on a free transfer a when his contract at Bayern Munich runs out next month.

Sources from France have revealed that Niko Kovic, who worked with the 32-year-old at the Allianz Arena, will try to lure the German international to Monaco.

Bild have claimed that Tottenham have identified Boateng as the number one choice in their hunt for a new central defender.

It is said that the World Cup winner is prepared to take a cut on his current £210,000-a-week salary but is demanding a three-year contract to sign on the dotted line.

The report adds that a move to the MLS could also on the cards for the experienced centre-back.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no way Tottenham will offer a three-year contract to a 32-year-old even if he is available on a free transfer. I also do not expect the club to make a decision on which centre-backs to go for until they appoint a new manager.
