Report: 37-year-old goalkeeper emerges as a shock target for Tottenham

Tutto Salernitana have revealed that Salernitana goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa has emerged as a shock target for Tottenham Hotspur.

Ochoa is one of the biggest legends in Mexican football history, having been capped 135 times by his country and the goalkeeper has previously played in the Spanish and Belgian top flights.

It came as a bit of a surprise when Salernitana snapped up the veteran from Club America back in January but he has been in fine form between the sticks since joining the Serie A side.

Tutto Salernitana have now claimed that Ochoa’s displays have caught the attention of several Premier League sides, with Spurs, Chelsea and Aston Villa said to be keeping an eye on the goalkeeper.

The report adds that Inter Milan also view the 37-year-old as a potential replacement for Andrea Onana if the Cameroonian leaves this summer.

It is explained that Ochoa’s current deal at Salernitana runs out at the end of the season and while there is an option to extend the contract by two years, the parties are only expected to discuss that at the end of the campaign.

Perhaps Spurs are eyeing Ochoa as a potential backup option in the summer, particularly with Forster’s contract running out in 2024.

However, the former Southampton man has done a decent job between the sticks when called upon this season and the fact that he is homegrown is also a plus for the Lilywhites, which is why it would not make sense to swap him for the Mexican.
