Report: 38-year-old emerges as contender to replace Fabio Paratici at Spurs

The Daily Mail have revealed that Brentford technical director Lee Dykes has emerged as a contender to replace Fabio Paratici at Tottenham.

Paratici resigned from his role as managing director of football at Tottenham last month after his worldwide ban was upheld, with the North London club now thought to be on the lookout for a new sporting director (Evening Standard).

In fact, Sky Germany reported last week that one of the roadblocks for Spurs in their pursuit of Julian Nagelsmann was the fact that they had no director in place, with the former Bayern Munich boss seeking clarity on who he would be working under.

That information has now been backed up by The Mail, who state that Tottenham still hope to appoint Nagelsmann as their head coach and are thus seeking to bring in a sporting director.

Dykes, who has worked in all of the top four tiers of English football, has allegedly emerged as a contender.

The publication adds that the 38-year-old is joined on Spurs’ shortlist by Johannes Spors, who serves as the global sports director for multiple clubs, including Hertha BSC, Genoa, and Standard Liege.

The idea of bringing in a head coach before a director of football never made sense and would have led to several complications.

It appears like the club have realised that and are now seeking to bring in a replacement for Paratici to aid them in their search for Conte’s replacement.
