Report: £42m price tag placed on rumoured Spurs target who won’t sign new contract

Nicolo Zaniolo does not intend on signing a new contract at Roma and could be sold this summer amidst interest from Tottenham, according to TuttoMercatoWeb.

Zaniolo has been in good form for the Giallorossi this season in what has been a recovery campaign after missing last term with a knee injury.

The 22-year-old winger has developed a strong connection with Roma’s top-scorer Tammy Abraham and recently netted a hat-trick against Bodo/Glimt to secure his side’s place in the Europa Conference League semi-final.

The versatile forward’s form has since caught the attention of a host of English clubs, with Tottenham thought to have placed him on a shortlist of targets this summer (CalcioMercato and Fichajes).

And both sides could be about to receive a boost in their pursuit of Zaniolo this summer, with TuttoMercatoWeb reporting he will not sign a fresh deal with Roma.

His current contract is set to expire in 2024 but the Serie A side, now happy to part ways with Zaniolo, have placed a price tag of £42 million (€50m) on him ahead of a potential exit at the end of the season.

Spurs Web Opinion

This could be good news for Spurs and their interest in Zaniolo as it means he is destined to leave Roma at some point.

While he won’t be a cheap buy, as noted by Roma’s alleged valuation, he could be a player to pursue given he still has space to develop.

A couple of issues are his disciplinary record which isn’t fantastic as well as his very sketchy injury history which could put clubs off a transfer.
