Report: 44-year-old manager has been ‘highly recommended’ to Levy and Spurs

The Telegraph have now revealed that Arne Slot has been ‘highly recommended’ to Daniel Levy as the Spurs chairman continues to search for Antonio Conte’s replacement.

The report primarily addresses Tottenham’s pursuit of Julian Nageslmann, stating that the German remains at the top of the North London club’s wishlist.

However, it is explained that the 35-year-old is not expected to accept the job until he receives clarity on who Spurs’ next sporting director would be.

The publication reveals that apart from Nagelsmann, Spurs have also spoken to Luis Enrique and are now expected to have dialogues with two other coaches – Slot and Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou.

The Telegraph assert that the Feyenoord boss comes highly recommended to the Spurs hierarchy on the back of his impressive work at De Kuip over the last two seasons.

This report comes on the back of an update by ESPN last week, which claimed that Slot is emerging as ‘a leading contender alongside’ Nagelsmann for the Tottenham job.

The fact that Tottenham have not really advanced their talks with any of the other candidates suggests that they are still trying their best to convince Nagelsmann to take over.

So, the club’s next step appears to be to appoint a director of football so that the German could be persuaded.
