Kicker reporter Georg Holzner has revealed that Thomas Tuchel was set to fly to London to hold talks with Tottenham before the Bayern Munich job opened up.
Tuchel has now taken over as Bayern’s head coach after the Bundesliga giants parted ways with Julian Naglesmann last week.
The Evening Standard reported on Thursday that Bayern’s appointment of Tuchel came as a blow to Spurs, who were considering the German as Antonio Conte’s potential replacement.
Journalist Nizaar Kinsella suggested a couple of days ago although the Lilywhites held a ‘loose contingency interest’ in Tuchel, the 49-year-old never had any concrete talks with the North London club.
Holzner has now offered more clarity on the matter, explaining that the former Chelsea boss was set to arrive at Hotspur Way last Tuesday for talks over the managerial vacancy before Bayern came calling.
He added that Tuchel decided to cancel the meeting with Spurs as the Bundesliga giants offered him the job immediately.

Spurs Web Opinion
It is quite possible that Bayern decided to act quickly as Tuchel was their top target and they heard about the meeting that the German was set to have with Tottenham.
Overall, the situation has worked out well for Spurs as I believe that Julian Nagelsmann and Mauricio Pochettino would be much better fits for the club than the former Chelsea boss would have been.
