Report: 50-year-old would ‘love’ to replace Antonio Conte as Spurs boss

Football Insider have claimed that Mauricio Pochettino would ‘love’ to return to Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Pochettino has come under pressure following Paris Saint-Germain’s elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Real Madrid, with some reports suggesting the former Spurs boss could be sacked by the Ligue 1 giants (talkSPORT).

Football Insider have now revealed that the Argentine will leave Paris at the end of the season.

The report adds that Pochettino would jump at the chance of a romantic return to North London if Antonio Conte leaves Spurs in the summer.

The 50-year-old is said to retain a ‘great affection’ for the Lilywhites and it is claimed that he has remained in contact with Daniel Levy since leaving Spurs in 2019.

Football Insider also add that those close to Conte are in no doubt the Italian would walk away from Tottenham in the summer if he is not backed sufficiently in the transfer window.

The report adds that PSG are among the sides who are eager to lure the former Inter Milan boss from Spurs.

Spurs Web Opinion

Spurs fans should not pay much heed to this report as it seems to be based on ‘ifs’. Conte is clearly Paratici’s dream appointment and I believe Tottenham will back the 52-year-old in the summer transfer window.

Pochettino will likely become a target for Spurs if Conte does walk away for some reason but I do not think there is much of a chance of that happening. I expect Conte to remain in charge of Tottenham next season and Pochettino to potentially take the Man Utd job.
