Report: A strong indication that Spurs could be set for new stadium move

It has been reported that Tottenham hope to play their next game against Brighton in their new 62,062 capacity stadium. The match is currently scheduled for the 7th of April but could be delayed should the Seagulls progress to the semi final of the FA Cup.

Mauricio Pochettino indicated after the game against Dortmund that he was optimistic that Spurs will play their Champions League quarter final clash at their new ground.

It has now been reported by the Daily Mail, that Haringey Council has given official notice of traffic restrictions in place for test events from the end of next week.

The report claims that Spurs are planning for two sub-capacity matches next week in order to receive a safety certificate from the council.

It is also claimed that one of the matches could be an Under-18s fixture against Southampton.

Once Spurs receive a safety certificate from the council, they will be ready to open their new stadium for Premier League and Champions League matches. This has likely been why Spurs haven’t made an official announcement of the opening date yet as they would need a safety certificate to finally confirm it.

So it looks at the moment like things are on track for a grand opening in early April.
