Report: AC Milan could be without key star for CL clash against Tottenham

AC Milan could be without Ismael Bennacer for one or both legs of their Champions League clash against Tottenham, with Sport Mediaset reporting that the Serie A club are waiting for further results on the midfielder’s hamstring injury.

Tottenham will resume their Champions League campaign with a trip to the San Siro on February 15 before welcoming Milan to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 9 March.

Milan, like Spurs, have not been in particularly good form since the restart, and the tie looks to be one of the more closely fought match-ups at this stage of the competition.

The Rossoneri have now suffered a potential blow, with one of the most important players, Bennacer, picking up a hamstring injury last week.

Sport Mediaset have revealed that tests showed a minor lesion in the femoral biceps of the 25-year-old’s left leg. It is explained that Algerian will have further tests next week to determine the severity of the injury and the time he needs to recover.

The report states that, for the moment, Bennacer’s involvement in the Champions League tie against Spurs ‘remains uncertain’.

It will be a huge boost to Tottenham if Bennacer is not passed fit for either leg as the midfielder, in many respects, is the man who makes Stefano Pioli’s side tick. If all of our key players remain fit, I fancy us to get past Milan, particularly with the second leg in London.
